RSM College-bound Student

DSCF1354Congratulations to RSM student Teela Comeau who will be attending the University of Miami on a $30,000 a year music scholarship! Soprano, Teela Comeau, is a well-rounded performer and musician. As an intern for the choral department at Centennial High School, she aids the conductor in the direction of the Concert Choir, and has had the opportunity to conduct the ensemble on occasion. Teela has been involved in Madrigals, the premier curricular choir in her school, for two years. She demonstrates her versatility and strong vocal range by singing in both the alto and soprano sections. Teela also participates in Vintage Voices, an extracurricular choir that sings 50’s and 60’s style popular songs at nursing homes in Howard County. Teela presented her senior recital, an all solo performance, at RSM during the fall of 2013. In the fall of 2014 Teela will attend the University of Miami majoring in Music Education. She is looking forward to pursuing a career in music.

Rosa Pryor Scholarship Recipient

DSCF0556 copy Congratulations to RSM student Alecia Scott for receiving the 2011 Rosa Pryor Music Scholarship for Piano Performance in the Elementary School Level Category. As part of the 2011 Scholarship recipient, Alicia presented a mini concert at the Rosa Pryor 2011 formal banquet.

2012 Howard County Act-So Winner

Scanned Image 1Congratulations to RSM student, Aaron Spain-Bey, for winning First Place Gold Medal in the Classical Vocal category of the ACT-SO competition in Howard County. ACT-SO is an Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics that is sponsored by the NAACP. It is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. ACT-SO includes 26 categories of competition in the sciences, humanities, business, and performing and visual arts. More than 260,000 young people have participated from the program since its inception.
