Mr. Evander McLean

Evander W. McLean (Baltimore, MD) received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Music with a concentration in Percussion from Morgan State University. This has allowed him to perform internationally, nationally and locally in many settings.

While at Morgan, Mr. McLean was a part of the Magnificent Marching Machine, jazz band, jazz combo, pep band, symphonic winds, and drumline. He was also the percussion instructor while in grad school. With the Morgan State University Jazz Combo, he had the pleasure to travel to Colombia, South America where he taught jazz clinics, gave demonstration performances and concertized in Medellin, Pereira, Manizales and El Retiro.

With other Morgan ensembles, Mr. McLean performed in New Jersey, Giant Stadium; Hampton Virginia., Hampton University Stadium, Norfolk Virginia; Norfolk State University Stadium, Washington D.C., Howard University Stadium; College Park, Maryland, University of Maryland Stadium, New Haven Connecticut, Yale University, NCAA Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri and Buffalo, New York. On campus performances consist of the Inauguration Ceremony of Dr. David Wilson as President of Morgan State University, Homecoming events, Alumni Dinner at Martin’s West, Presidents end of the year luncheon for the faculty, dedication of the Earl S. Richardson Library and a host of other events.

In Maryland, Mr. McLean has performed in many musicals such as Godspell, Crown’s, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Side Show, Legally Blonde, Pippin, The Color Purple, The Wiz, In the Heights and many more with pit orchestras.

Mr. McLean is currently a substitute teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools. He is the head drummer at Friendship Baptist Church (Baltimore). He is a member of the drumline of both Stevenson University Marching Band and the Marching Ravens. He also performs with many talented musicians in other venues in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.
