About Our Music Program

Private Lesson Program (Ages 4-Adult)

One-on-one weekly instruction with a professional coach/teacher of your choice, allows you to get the most out of your music lesson. Your program of study is designed to optimize your strengths and tastes. It is intended to help you build a foundation that will enable you to skillfully participate in and enjoy music for the rest of your life. RSM offers private lessons for piano, strings, voice, drums, guitar, woodwind and brass instruments.

You may start private lessons any time of the year or month. See below for a detail description of our instruments of study:

  • Piano Lessons

    The Roberson School of Music offers various ways of studying the piano for ages 4-Adult. Students can study piano one-on-one with an instructor or in a group setting. Students have the option to learn through a traditional piano program, jazz, or suzuki method.

  • Drum Lessons

    Roberson School of Music offers drum and percussion lessons for beginners to advanced students. Students studying drums will learn technique, rudiments, to read rhythm, and to play by feel in all styles of music such as Pop, Jazz and Rock. Lessons are catered to meet each student’s specific interests and needs. Students have the opportunity to learn to play their favorite songs, create and improvise.

  • Voice Lessons

    Roberson School of Music offers voice lessons for young and older singers. In voice lessons, students focus on proper technique, ear training and theory. Each voice student works one-on-one with an instructor and also has the option to work with other students through duet or ensemble singing.

  • Guitar Lessons

    Through guitar lessons, students will learn proper technique and build confidence. Our guitar instructors provide students with foundation to last them a lifetime. Students have the opportunity to learn classical guitar, rock, jazz and blues.

  • String Lessons

    Roberson School of Music offers private lessons on various string instruments including violin, viola and cello. Our string faculty offers a creative and supportive learning environment for each student.

  • Woodwind and Brass Lessons

    The Roberson School of Music offers lessons on woodwind instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon as well as brass instruments such as trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium and tuba. By taking lessons on woodwind or brass instruments students learn proper tone production, fingering and breath control. They also learn discipline, intrinsic motivation, and increased self esteem.

  • Music Technology

    Roberson School of Music offers classes in music technology, which includes studies in sound design, MIDI sequencing, notation software, audio recording, and live sound reinforcement. Students learn how to create thier own music using technology.
  • Summer Music Offerings

    The Roberson School of Music offers piano camp and private lessons on piano, string, woodwind, brass, voice and drums. Campers have the opportunity to develop music fundamental skills through our piano camp. Students always have the option to learn an instrument with our friendly and talented instructors through one on one instruction.

  • Theory, Ear Training and Sight Singing (Ages 4-Adult)

    Through musicianship classes students are able to learn music history, theory, ear training and sight singing. Students also learn to compose their own music and focus on performance practice techniques. These skills work in conjunction with your private lessons. Mastering them will make you a better musician.
  • Concerts and Recitals

    RSM provide students various opportunities to perform by presenting several recitals throughout the year. All students are expected to perform in at least two recitals. See our calendar for recital dates.
